Operational Technical Drawings

Students are introduced to reading technical drawings, their symbols, and terminology in this fundamentals course. Terms and definitions used in different sectors and industries, such as manufacturing and construction, may also be covered. Basic drawing skills will be introduced in geometric construction, making measurements, and lettering. Students may also be introduced to computer-aided drawing (CAD) software or techniques.

    *One continuing education unit equals 10 contact hours.

    1. Construct simple drawings of simple technical systems in pencil.
    2. Originate different data, including geometric construction, measurements and dimensions, and lettering.
    3. Demonstrate various Orthographic projections.
    4. Describe various Isometric projections.
    5. Assess various full and partial sectioning views.
    6. Differentiate between different technical symbols for materials, components, and representations of systems.
    7. Read technical drawings for various technical systems (Mechanical, electrical, construction). 
    8. Perceive an understanding of the basics of 2D CAD drawings.
    9. Recognize an awareness of the array of 3D CAD programs used in the field to develop outputs for industrial use.

      • Learners must obtain a minimum score of A2C proficiency level on SCE’s Standardized English Proficiency Test
