Teachers are one of School of Continuing Education’s (SCE) priority learners. The school recognizes that this often underappreciated demographic is one the most effective investment areas to propel development on the micro and macro scales. It is active in collaborations that share this understanding and commitment towards teacher development. Some date back decades, such as the NileTESOL association that just celebrated a quarter-century of empowering English language teachers.

Welcome friends to the new SCE Newsletter. It is an opportunity, to sum up our many accomplishments of 2020. And oh, what a year it has been. Yes, of course, the world was hit with the challenges presented by the pandemic. And as with the rest of AUC and everyone else across the globe, we had to adjust and find new ways to accomplish our never-changing mission of offering high-quality education in an accessible way. The SCE mission might well be more important now than ever as people reevaluate their career and educational options.

Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Mohammad M. Anba visited the New Cairo campus for the first time last week to explore further fields of mutual partnership with AUC and enhance the exchange of future services. The visit included a tour of the University's departments and buildings and getting acquainted with the various services AUC provides in the academic field as well as cultural, social and sports activities.

International Language Assessment Conference in Egypt (ILACE) 2020 Online Conference

Since 2015, the School of Continuing Education (SCE) and the British Council convened thousands of international language assessment experts at AUC Tahrir Square Campus for the widely-regarded premier conference in the field, the International Language Assessment Conference in Egypt (ILACE). For its sixth edition on September 4 and 5, 2020, the conference went digital. Not just in format but also in substance under the theme, "Embracing New Realities."

AUC Provides Mentorship for Gemini Uplift Initiative

AUC will be providing voluntary mentorship support for entrepreneurs as part of the Gemini Uplift initiative to support entrepreneurs during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The initiative, launched by Gemini Enterprises Africa, aims to revive the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Egypt and Africa during these difficult times through money, matchmaking and mentorship. Gemini focuses on supporting entrepreneurship in Africa, and particularly projects focused on social dimensions. 

Accreditation Reaffirmed

The School of Continuing Education (SCE) at the American University in Cairo received reaccreditation by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). 

The School of Continuing Education Receives Renewal of Accreditation

The School of Continuing Education (SCE) at the American University in Cairo received reaccreditation by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).   IACET is the premier accrediting organization for continuing education and training and this is SCE’s third accreditation with the organization.  SCE was first accredited by IACET in 2010, with each accreditation period lasting five years. 

AUC Community Donor Recognition: 'This is What AUC is All About'

“AUC really helped enhance the person I am today. I donated to the Senior Class Gift and the President’s Challenge Fund because giving back, even if it’s a little amount, is what matters. The value is in the contribution. As a receiver of the emergency tuition scholarships and financial aid, I give thanks to all donors, as you have enabled me to continue this beautiful journey,” said Lobna Fayez, a graduating senior double majoring in communications and media arts as well as political science who is also a member of AUC’s swim team, describing why she chooses to give back to AUC.
