Strategic Management (Stand-Alone Course)

Strategic Management course help learners to understand what a strategy is and identify the difference between business-level and corporate-level strategy.

  • Strategic Management course focuses on a broad representation of differing, often conflicting, perspectives and theories related to strategic management. It provides a comprehensive approach to strategic management and develops learners’ strategic thinking capabilities in the organizational context. Topics covered will include fundamental strategies that organizations adapt to meet the challenges imposed by examining the internal and external environment, creating business strategies, developing corporate strategies, understanding alliances and cooperative strategies, and managing strategic change and corporate governance in the twenty-first century.

  • Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

    1. Understand what a strategy is and identify the difference between business–level and corporate level strategy
    2. Understand the relationships among vision, mission, values, and strategy
    3. Examine the internal environment of a corporate: resources, capabilities, and activities
    4. Apply PESTEL analysis to identify the macro characteristics of the external context
    5. Evaluate the quality of a firm’s strategy
    6. Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of choosing a first-mover strategy
    7. Develop a corporate strategy
    8. Compare different forms of alliances and cooperative strategies
  • The following admission requirements are mandatory for students who wish to complete the Career Certificate in management:

    • Foundation certificate in business administration
    • Applicants must have basic computer literacy
    • Applicants must pass the Standardized English Proficiency Test (SEPT) or Online English Placement Test (OEPT) and score level ENGG B1A or pass ENGG A2D.

    The following admission requirements are mandatory for students who wish to complete the course as Stand-Alone Certificate – Attendance Certificate:

    • Applicants must have basic computer literacy
    • Applicants must pass the Standardized English Proficiency Test (SEPT)/The Online English Placement Test (OEPT) and score level ENGGB1A or passing ENGGA2D

    • Learners should choose Face to Face (SEPT) test OR Online test (OEPT)
    • Exam fees are non-refundable and changes in admission test dates are only allowed two working days in advance of the reserved test session according to the availability by sending an email to sce@aucegypt.edu.
