Intermediate Corporate Finance (Stand-Alone Course)

Intermediate Corporate Finance is intended to round out the student’s comprehensive overview of corporate finance topics; examine the concepts, techniques, and tools used by financial managers in their attempts to make effective investing and financing decisions.

  • Intermediate Corporate Finance help students understand how to approach, solve and present business challenges/issues with an emphasis on corporate finance problems. Specific attention is devoted to advanced capital budgeting topics, dividend policy and financing decisions, international finance, financial risk management, and corporate restructuring.

    Intermediate Corporate Finance - Stand Alone Certificate

     Foundation certificate in accounting and finance or bachelor's degree in accounting

    *Continuing education unit equals 10 contact hours.

    A stand-alone certificate will be issued upon the successful completion of each course.

  • Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

    1. Grasp the importance of financial information in business lives
    2. Assess the relative merits of two–period projects using net present value
    3. Explain how to choose the appropriate discount rate for a given stream of cash flows, according to the investment horizon
    4. Compare each of the capital budgeting tools and tell why NPV always gives the correct decision
    5. Use breakeven analysis, sensitivity analysis, or scenario analysis to evaluate project risk
    6. Use the capital asset pricing model to calculate the cost of capital for a particular project
    7. Calculate the weighted average of cost capital
  • The following admission requirements are mandatory for students who wish to complete the Career Certificate in Accounting or Career Certificate in Finance only:

    • Applicants must pass the Standardized English Proficiency Test (SEPT)/The Online English Placement Test (OEPT) and score level ENGGB1A.
    • Continuing Education level SBAF 101 Minimum Grade of D and Continuing Education level SBAF 106 Minimum Grade of D.
    • Applicants must have basic computer literacy.

    The following admission requirements are mandatory for students who wish to complete the course as Stand-Alone Certificate – Attendance Certificate:

    • Applicants must have basic computer literacy.
    • Applicants must pass the Standardized English Proficiency Test (SEPT)/The Online English Placement Test (OEPT) and score level ENGGB1A or passing ENGGA2D
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent with a minimum of two years of professional experience in the accounting/finance field
