*One continuing education unit equals 10 contact hours

** Learners who completed a foundation certificate or AUC continuing education certificate are required to sit for the Standardized English Proficiency Test (SEPT)/Online English Placement Test (OEPT) if they dropped out for a period of one year or more from the date of completing the certificate.

Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:  

  • Applying electronic resources on translation and interpreting, introduction to website localization, and investigation of the online market and environment of translation and interpreting.
  • Translating effectively so that the target structure would be as close as possible to the original composition, striking a balance between naturalness and accuracy.
  • Transferring different grammatical functions and structures from English into Arabic and vice versa appropriately, without compromising the meaning.
  • Producing equivalent messages that are linguistically and grammatically clear. English to Arabic translation constitutes 70 percent, and Arabic into English represents 30 percent of the course material.
  • Enhancing the speed of the mental translation process, in addition to providing hands-on practice of the three different modes of interpreting.
