- Explain the fundamental principles of accounting, including the accounting equation, double-entry bookkeeping system and different types of accounts (assets, liabilities, equity, revenue and expense)
- Analyze business activities and classify them into appropriate financial statement elements
- Apply the key principles of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to the preparation of financial statements
- Calculate financial ratios and evaluate a company's profitability, liquidity, solvency and efficiency
- Assess internal controls implemented by a company to safeguard cash and receivables
- Formulate and implement effective test-taking strategies, including time management techniques and question-deconstruction methods, to maximize success on the FMAA exam
