The self-paced/instructor-led course focuses on the main concepts of assessment and its quality, types, and purposes of classroom assessments, methods and strategies used to assess learning, and the decisions taken by teachers in light of classroom assessment practices.

The course is self-paced/instructor-led, designed to empower teachers with the fundamental knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to manage classroom assessment to enhance student learning. The overall aim of this course is to link classroom assessment to instruction. Accordingly, it focuses on the main concepts of assessment and assessment quality, the types and purposes of classroom assessments, the methods and strategies used to assess learning, and the decisions that may be taken by teachers in light of classroom assessment practices. The course outcomes are aligned with the Standards for Teacher Competence in Educational Assessment of Students (AFT, NCME, NEA, 1990) and Classroom Assessment Standards for PreK-12 Teachers (The Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation, 2015).
