Classroom Assessment in Arabic (Stand-Alone Course)

The course is self-paced/instructor-led, designed to empower teachers with the fundamental knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to manage classroom assessment to enhance student learning. The overall aim of this course is to link classroom assessment to instruction. Accordingly, it focuses on the main concepts of assessment and assessment quality, the types and purposes of classroom assessments, the methods and strategies used to assess learning, and the decisions that may be taken by teachers in light of classroom assessment practices. The course outcomes are aligned with the Standards for Teacher Competence in Educational Assessment of Students (AFT, NCME, NEA, 1990) and Classroom Assessment Standards for PreK-12 Teachers (The Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation, 2015).

*One continuing education unit equals 10 contact hours.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

9. Explain the different types of classroom assessments and their purposes
10. Plan for classroom assessments
11. Design assessment tools
12. Explain the characteristics of effective classroom feedback
13. Differentiate various questioning techniques
14. Explain the key differences between performance- and portfolio-based assessment
15. Write appropriate performance tasks
16. Construct a holistic and analytic rubric for a performance assessment task
17. Explain the importance of grading classroom assessments
18. Interpret classroom assessment scores
19. Report classroom assessment scores
