AUC’s School of Continuing Education Celebrates 30 Years of Niletesol, Advancing Resilience and Innovation in English Language Teaching

January 28, 2026

The School of Continuing Education of the American University in Cairo (AUC) successfully hosted the 30th Annual NileTESOL International Conference on January 28–29, 2026, at AUC’s New Cairo Campus, marking three decades of impact, professional exchange, and leadership in English language teaching (ELT).

Held under the theme “Resilience in ELT: Adapting and Thriving in a Changing World,” the conference convened educators, researchers, academic leaders, and publishers from Egypt and across the globe. Over two days, participants engaged in plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and panel discussions showcasing innovative teaching strategies, instructional materials, and the effective integration of technology to enhance learning and empower both teachers and students.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Allam, Dean of the School of Continuing Education, and Dr. Ghada Elshimi, Dean of Undergraduate Studies and the Academy of Liberal Arts, who welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of adaptability, reflection, and collaboration in addressing the evolving demands of education.

“For three decades, NileTESOL has provided a vital space for educators to revisit their teaching practices, redefine their roles, and exchange ideas that respond to a rapidly changing world,” said Allam. “This conference continues to support teachers in adapting to new realities, leveraging technology, and preparing learners for both current and future challenges.”

As a long-standing platform for professional development, NileTESOL enables educators to explore emerging trends in ELT, reflect on pedagogical practice, and engage with tools and strategies that enhance teaching effectiveness in dynamic educational contexts.

The School of Continuing Education extends its sincere appreciation to all speakers, sponsors, partners, and participants whose contributions made this landmark 30th edition a success.
