Registration instructions and tips, coupled with a clear understanding of policies and procedures, lay the foundation for a fulfilling and successful academic experience. 

Synchronous online learning and teaching require assessment. Educators need to assess learners at the end of a course or term and at various points in their learning journey. In this five-hour interactive workshop series, participants will learn how to assess learners online for 21st-century teaching and learning purposes. Focus is on the needs of teachers who teach language and/or other skills online, as they need to assess learners online using formative and summative assessment tools. Participants will go beyond learning about the assessment tools needed to assess learners based on their specific learning contexts. They will also be able to develop their ability to assess learning and assessment as learning tasks to evaluate learner needs, progress, and abilities. Added to this, participants will learn how to select and match currently available tech tools to suit their assessment purposes. Participants will receive a letter of attendance at a fee.

  • Identify the basic types of assessment tasks in an online course
  • Distinguish between the various types of assessment in an online classroom
  • Identify best practices for assessment in an online interactive, integrated learning environment
  • Create interactive, integrated assessment tasks using G-suite tools and other free online tools
  • Implement appropriate instructor feedback in online English and/or skills-based courses
  • Align assessment methods with suggested tech tools to assess integrated skills
