A Message from SCE Dean James Ketterer

SCE Dean

Welcome friends to the new SCE Newsletter. It is an opportunity, to sum up our many accomplishments of 2020. And oh, what a year it has been. Yes, of course, the world was hit with the challenges presented by the pandemic. And as with the rest of AUC and everyone else across the globe, we had to adjust and find new ways to accomplish our never-changing mission of offering high-quality education in an accessible way. The SCE mission might well be more important now than ever as people reevaluate their career and educational options. As you can see in the stories and links in this newsletter, the staff and instructors at SCE have worked tirelessly to move classes and operations online as quickly and efficiently as possible. What seemed impossible just a few months ago has been accomplished, and we continue to move ahead with innovations and a slow and safe return to some face-to-face instruction.

Many thanks to the tireless and extraordinary SCE staff, our wonderful instructors, and the many students who have stayed with us in these uncertain times. I have always been honored to be part of the SCE community and never prouder in these last months as I marveled at the resilience and determination of all at SCE. With this newsletter, we look back on what has been accomplished while eagerly gazing forward to a year of new developments. Let us work together to make 2021 a year of health, hope, and a rededication to those things and people most dear to us.

Happy New Year!
