ILACE 2025: A Global Gathering for Language Assessment Innovation

September 05, 2025

The 11th International Language Assessment Conference in Egypt (ILACE 2025) established a new benchmark for innovation and collaboration in language education, with the theme “Assessment in Language Education: Research and Practice.”

Over the years, ILACE has grown into a respected platform that brings together teachers, researchers, and assessment specialists from Egypt and around the world. It remains a space where ideas are exchanged, collaborations are formed, and innovation in language education is celebrated.

This year’s edition was our largest yet, with a rich program featuring:

  • 65 presentations
  • 38 workshops
  • 2 poster sessions
  • 9 sponsor sessions
  • 2 plenary speakers and 2 plenary workshops

Speakers represented 6 countries, while participants joined us from 8 countries, adding diverse perspectives that enriched every session.

A major milestone this year was the launch of a dedicated research track, providing a platform for original studies and in-depth academic dialogue that bridges evidence and practice. In addition, ILACE proudly inaugurated its first-ever Conference Proceedings, a curated collection of research, best practices, and insights—laying the foundation for an annual tradition. The sessions throughout the conference reflected ILACE’s dual focus: innovative research alongside practical strategies that educators and practitioners can apply across diverse contexts.

This achievement was made possible thanks to the remarkable contributions of our sponsors: IELTS by IDP, Nahdet Misr Exam Center, and Cambridge English MEA.

ILACE 2025 was more than a conference—it was a celebration of growth, knowledge, and collaboration in language assessment, shaping the future of language education in Egypt and beyond.
